SEAT nowadays

I have driven my mates brand new Golf R. I was excited and geared up for it being awesome but it was just so dull and nowhere near as fun as I thought it would be. Such a let down of a car.
Another has the Tiguan and that is OK. Nice car to drive but it again is just "meh" to me and nothing special at all about it. DSG in it felt proper clunky compared to the DSG in the new Leon.

I looked at the Alteca. Actually went into SEAT with intention of ordering one but I didn't even drive it because it's **** ugly and we swiftly decided we didn't want it. All around the bottom of the car and the front is cheapo plastic. My other half couldn't believe a brand new motor these days would have so much plastic on its exterior and beside that, it's a horrid shape and just looks nasty from every angle.

Ibiza, lovely wee thing but as poster above mentions, the engine choices are naff.

Ordered Leon ST Xcellence Tech with 2.0 185bhp diesel and DSG box. It's a new trim option they are doing so could only check it out in their new Alteca and test drive a ST FR with same engine and box. I was honestly surprised at the build quality of the Leon, the doors are bloomin heavy on the thing. Steering feel is exceptional, DSG super responsive (was surprised how good it was as comparing to the Tiguan from above) and we just thought it was a great all round car. I actually got more of a buzz from a Leon estate than I did the Golf R but I think that's because I expected so much from the Golf R and it just nowhere near met my expectations of it.
FR was a bit harsh on the shocking roads we have up here I thought (I'm nearly 30 year old now, ancient) so hoping the Xcellence trim with the "comfort suspension" is a bit nicer than the "sport suspension" on the FR.....
All in all, thought build quality wise the Leon was superb. I've owned many Honda's, a VW Mk5 Golf, 2012 Fiesta and top end Saab that's now ancient and the Leon is miles ahead quality wise. But this is something you can comment and establish more with ownership, not just viewing and test drive so we will see.....

I have had 2 Seat's and currently own 2. My Leon Cupra 280 and the Wifes Leon 1.2tsi SE. Both cars are well built and have no rattles yet and only have to go in for Services. My Leon is a hoot and at the time I got way more kit than the Golf R for less cost. I went in look for an Ibiza for the misses but the Leon was cheaper with more space and its cheap as chips to run.

I guess still in my mid 20s they appeal as they look sportier than the other VAG stuff, reasonably well built, service at my dealership is good.

I will certainly be looking at the Leon Cupra ST 300 or the Alteca if it comes in a Cupra form (Rumors saying its happening).

When i was looking at new cars last year, i looked at Skoda & VW, didnt take a look at Seat as they didnt do a car suitable for my needs. One thing really stood out, the Skoda was most certainly on a part in terms of interior fit and finish with its VW stable mate, the Superb was by far the better car compared to the Passat. I looked at the Tiguan and it actually had lots of cheap feeling bit of trim and the seats were terrible.

I had a MK1 Leon back in the day and that was the best looking leon imo, and the quality was spot on, iirc the dash was the Audi A3 dash? the MK2 felt really cheap inside in comparison. I dont think there is actually a VW that i would spend my hard earned on at the moment, a lot of the other companies have seriously upped their game in recent years.

We drove a 2017 ibiza fr 1.0l 115ps and the new fiesta titanium 1.0l 125ps back to back this weekend and although seat have made great strides forwards in the quality of their cars they still are not up to the level of the new fiesta. You only have to tap the top of the dash to find that out and although the ibiza was quite refined it isn't as good as the fiesta. Plus the quipment levels seem quite sparse as you have to pay extra for many things the fiesta has as standard, like climate control for example and part leather seats...

Had a Leon fr estate as a hire car in Germany and absolutely loved it. Currently got a big dsg Alhambra which seems very well built and specced for the price.

I'm still not sure that they've decided what the SEAT brand really stands for. For a while it was 'sporty' but they've moved on from that and now make cars that looks so much like Audis but for less money. Its the LED DRLs that do it.

They even took an old A4 and changed the front and rear to make the Exeo - which didnt sell much at all!

The VW group will at some point suffer from having too many brands and not being able to maintain an appropriate level of separation.

I had a leon hatch as hire car, i was so impressed I end up buying a leon st. It was like afew years back when you sit ina vw golf and just think im not missing much from an audi A3. Now the leon really,in my opinion, caught up with vw golf. Ok, some plastic still pretty low rant towarss the back but i sit at driver seat and i dont feel a down grade at all.

My mum has just got a new Leon 1.4 EcoTSI Xcellence Technology with DSG and I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it is.
150psi
Keyless Entry and Start (weirdly the fob has an actual key in it, but no obvious locks on the doors and no ignition chamber)
Leather seats
Bluetooth
Satnav
Front and Rear parking sensors
2 USB and an SD card slot
Ambient lighting

I unfortunately haven't had a chance to drive it yet, but mum says it is nippy and easy to drive.

had my ibiza fr going 2 years now and my wife has had hers just over a year . good value compared to VW.
Plastics could be a bit nicer but cant complain really equivalent polo gti would have been a lot more expensive.

When did your mum order it out of interest?
And any chance of some pictures? I've got one on order in the same trim but with it being brand new trim I of course couldn't see it in the flesh. Be nice to see what the interior/seats are like seeing as mine ain't coming any time soon!! :(
