Second display on imac, keeps flickering off then on again

Well I managed to use SwitchResX Control to manually create a new profile of the same resolution, but instead of the frequency being 59.96Hz or whatever it was, I set it to 60.
That seemed to do the trick. Flicker free for months.
However, I reformatted last week, and no matter how I play with SwitchResX Control, I cant seem to get a new resolution in play that stops it.
So I'v unplugged my second monitor for now
