Second Hand 360 or Second Hand PS3 Slim 120gb

Got the option via a couple of different guys at work to buy either a PS3 Slim 120GB or a 360 Elite (Jasper) at roughly the same price.

Not a huge gamer these days but enjoy FPS and racing games (as we all do) and will probably end up buying most games on the cheap (ie second hand / pre-owned).

Media streaming from my network would be a huge plus-point meaning i can finally retire my old Xbox Crystal running XBMC through the Hi-deff connection pack.

Which in everyone's opinion would be the better option and why?

Ok, If you are going to mainly stream movies with ocassional gaming then PS3, if you are going to play games with ocassional movie watching 360.

What do most of your mates have?

That the difficult one as they are split pretty much 50/50 between them both. Otherwise it would be an easy decision.


Whats the second hands games market like on them both?

go for the ps3. i had a 360 then replaced it with a ps3 and never looked back.
the only downside i had was no PGR series anymore, b ut i do get gran turismo now

Is there any difference in the game quality?

Both are @ 150

The PS3 has 'Buzz' with controllers.

The 360 has an extra wireless pad, and 4 games

Gave up on PC gaming a long long time ago - too expensive to play the latest greates games

Second hand elites are avaliable for 99.99 with 12 month warrenty, you'd be mad to buy one for 150!

Shows how up to speed i am with consoles (NOT!!)

Pointed this out to him and he'd drop the price to £80.

Seen a link for the xbox 360 direct from MS inc Quidco and voucher code (if still valid) bringing the price for the new slim down to £165 ish.

Had a look at both the console and they looked as though they had had a 'hard' life so decided not to bother so i am on the lookout for a good deal again but am back in the same boat as i was at the beginning.

Am leaning towards the PS3 for the media side though at the moment.

Was in my local morrisons an hour ago and they are still selling the 80gb phat model@ £180.

no slims in though.
