Second hand car engine failure after 3 months

A CCJ does not work in this way, a CCJ is only recorded in this way if the garage were to default on their payment terms. Simply being ordered to pay someone money and then meeting those terms is not a recordable action.

Indeed. Slightly off topic, and apologies for that, but this is exactly the reason that the private parking companies' scare letters about CCJs are total nonsense. You'll only have a CCJ recorded if:
1. They actually take you to court
2. You lose in court
3. Having lost and been ordered to pay you STILL don't pay

Linkex, well done on seeing this through and congratulations!

Almost true.
You have to pay within one month, even if you do pay but you take longer it stays on the record for 6 years. This is why even when people settle a CCJ they still have it recorded against them, they have taken too long to settle it.

The only way to get it removed within those 6 years is if the court set it aside. They will typically only do that in cases such as when judgement went against you by default due to a wrong address being used etc. and in this case you go back to the start of the process the whole thing doesn't just go away.

@OP what did you do for the 6 months waiting on this to go to court? Buy another car or walk everywhere?

I also ride bikes, so I did have transport, although my wife was reliant on public transport. We ended up buying an old Mondeo a couple of months ago because it was becoming really annoying to not have a car, with no expectation of it lasting past its MOT this coming Nov. So far it has been flawless and I won't be surprised if it gets through the MOT. Typical :)

He's wrong but not "entirely" wrong. While the KV6 is defiantly a Rover engine, the one used in the Rover 75 was re-designed for that purpose, by Rover under BMW's supervision (hence why it has so many German parts in it for a British engine).

Not quite correct. The KV6 was originally developed for the 825 and BMW were already in charge by that point. The original KV6 was an utter disaster, far more unreliable than the K series ever was. It was subsequently improved (still under BMW) to develop the engine that was used in the Freelander, 45/ZS and 75/ZT.
