Second hand gpu

No good reason you shouldnt be able to buy a 480 for 150 second hand. If its not available keep saving till you can get one new which is preferable with graphic cards anyway. Vega is coming soon, no need to be buying below that and bf1 needs something decent afaik

You can get a brand new MSI RX480 armor oc 4GB for £170. 3 year warranty.

Absolute no brainer if you can stretch your budget that far.

I had a 7950, wasnt very reliable for me. Luck of the draw maybe but your'll be stuck once you have it. Thats not a terrible price or a really great one, personally I'd put the money on a 480 with a warranty and you know you are set for a few years. Get the card your friend upgraded to
should i go for this

Nah, get a card with dx12. Maybe someone wants to say otherwise but I think you want dx12 for the future as its part of Vulcan, games will cut off the older versions even if it might otherwise be fast enough. Ive found that recently while Im waiting to upgrade, Im not allowed to run at low res even
If you pay for your own electricity the 1050 could be justified as cheaper to buy and costing less to power, it adds upto 20 quid over a year I guess. There are power calcs that'd tell you. 1050 uses no power beyond the slot connection.

I'd personally try and find that other £20. With that you get three years warranty with the MSI card. I know it's over your budget but if it takes waiting an extra week, selling a kidney, do whatever it takes to have that warranty behind you imo.

Otherwise try find a second hand card that's been mentioned above. The 290X I was using before done well at 1080p 120hz, messing around with a setting or two to maintain 100+FPS.
