What sort of assurance should one look for when buying a second hand SSD?

Is there some sort of health check that one can perform?
Also which drive should I lean towards:

Vertex
c300

or buy a new sata3 drive?

I already have an M225 64gb, but it is getting full and I want to run bf3 from an SSD.

Thanks

So what is the biggest drive that utilises sata3 for 120 ex vat?

Is sata3 worth an upgrade or are sata2 drives much cheaper and in percentage terms not that much slower?

Are the Intel drives still the best bet?

I am preparing for my first full build, I have done a few upgrades and now time for a new build. I have been watching various forums for a few second hand parts and the one thing I have decided for sure, while it might be okay to go 2nd user on a graphics card, psu and a case even DVD drive, the HDD and SSD boot drive I am planning will have to be brand spanking new. I have seen far too many complaints from people purchasing second hand ones.

There seems to be quite a high failure rate for SSDs at the moment, so I would only buy a drive that came with some sort of warranty.

(Unless you're getting the drive so cheap that you wouldn't mind throwing that money away).

I wouldn't touch a second hand SSD really. As stated above, there is a high failure rate currently and you could easy end up with a lemon and no warranty. Get yourself a nice new crucial M4. Really pleased with mine so far, definitely recommended.
