Hello,

I recently made a new build and after doing so I have decided to add a second HDD.

I have a 1tb sata drive installed with windows 7.

I have added a second 1TB sata HDD it does not show in my computer but when I go to computer management and disk management it shows my windows install drive as Disk 0 931.51GB and under that has Disk 1 232.88GB.

My question is why does it show as 232.88gb when it should be 1tb?

The second drive I have added did used to have a windows install on it and I have tried putting the windows CD in and booting up and doing a format that way this has not fixed the problem.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

EDIT: Ok I have got it so that my computer shows the HDD in my computer but it is still showing it as a 230gb HDD instead of a 1tb HDD any ideas?

When you're in Disk Management is there any unallocated space on the second drive to the right of the 230Gb partition?

Dumb question, are you absolutely sure that it's a 1Tb drive, ie have you checked the label?

Can you post a screenshot of Disk Management?

oh now thats a bit embarrassing... I took the wrong drive out my old computer and got the 250gb instead of the 1TB what a idiot i am lol...

Thanks for the help

What make and model is the second drive? Is it brand new or has it been used in a PC before?

+1, by model I would expect the model number which is printed on the top of the drive itself.

EDIT:- Oops! should've clicked on submit before I went to put the kettle on :o :D.

I found out I was using the wrong HDD when I went to look at the model number which is why it is not posted and also the reason after having it suggested I found out it was th e wrong HDD.
