I have a spare HDD, but when I went to use it as a main HDD I had forgotten my password for the Admin account, as it was used in my own pc and so that my brothers couldn't use it. I only had one account, the admin. I was wondering if i could connect the HDD up to my newer PC and used it as a second HDD? all the HDD had on it was my old school work, so I would want to delete everything off of it. I would buy a new HDD and use that as a second HDD but I have no money atm.

many thanks

I re-read what I wrote and realised I don't know if I made it clear what the situation.

I used to have a pc with a 80gb HDD in.
I got a new PC so now all I have from the old pc is the 80GB HDD
I want to use the 80gb HDD as a second HDD for my new PC.

is it possible to format just the second HDD?
I do not have a floppy drive in my PC so I cannot use the boot disks I have found when searching the internet

many thanks

Yes, simply connect the old Hd up too the secondary IDE channel on your new computer and then in Windows format in Disk Management (Right click My Computer ---> Manage)

And (assuming IDE) also remember to set the drive to Slave via the jumper on the rear, and place it on the centre connection on your IDE cable.
