Second life on bbc1 o dear

The BBC seem to be reporting on Second Life *all* the time as if its some sort of almightly all-conquering internet phenomenom.

But do any of you guys actually know someone who plays it? I dont and I know lots of people who play games. Infact prioer to the BBC's crusade I'd never even heard of it.

To be fair there's been more coverage on World of Warcraft in general...which *is* a big phenomenon. Perhaps not on the BBC but other news outlets. I'm not sure why they singled out Second Life.

Because its free and full of educational projects and encourages computer and buisness learning, aswell as the obvious 3d modelling you do and if you choose, texturing and coding/programming.

They chose not to show a game that sends out gangs of teenagers to kill things, Strange that. :)

So why was it painted in a bad light? Because an American woman chose to have an affair with a man she met originally through the game?

Its painted in a bad light becuase there are people out there with very little creative structure, all they can manage to cunjour up is some kind of soap opera drama in there own little twisted way, and we all know how much the BBC love to exploit and loves the format of a Victorian freak show.

Its all about your creativity, if you cant muster up more than some arguements and "virtual love" then its all you're going to get out of it. If you have vision and ideas, and very much enjoy creating anything in 3D and watching them work then you're going to have fun. Its why Universities use it too.
