Second monitor not detected

I've just tried plugging in another monitor to my graphics card, the first (working) monitor being connected via HDMI, and the second via Displayport. However I cannot get the computer to detect the second monitor. My graphics card has only one HDMI slot and I've only got one displayport cable so I can't try both monitors on one input. Is that possibly the issue?
I've tried going into my BIOS settings and there's nothing under graphics config to do with multi monitor support as I've seen suggested in other tech help forums. All that I see is the option to switch between PCIE/PCI or PCI/PCIE.
Windows doesn't detect the second monitor, nor does the nvidia control panel or displayfusion (since I used to have two monitors running from my previous gfx card). Looking at the latest drivers for my motherboard, it only supports up to Windows 8.1 and I'm on Windows 10 now, so don't know if I want to potentially screw things further by getting that.
The monitor just cycles between port options and eventually sleeps after not finding anything. I have tested the monitor on its own to confirm it does work however.

Any ideas how I can approach this? All specs are in my sig. The monitors are both Samsung S27E591C, if that's of any use. Drivers have already been installed.

It auto cycles through Analog, Displayport and HDMI continuously as it's finding nothing. I can manually switch to an input option but that doesn't achieve anything. I can't access the menu until it's found a source it seems.

My main monitor is connected via DP so I just tested adding my TV via HDMI and I had to use the "Detect" button on the "Screen resolution" settings page before it would work. You can then extend or duplicate the display...

Sorry if you've already checked there but I'm really just confirming that DP and HDMI work simultaneously from a single nvidia card even if mine is a bit rubbish compared to yours. :p

Well it's good to know that having HDMI and DP at the same time is not an issue at least. Unfortunately the control panel isn't displaying a multiple displays option, and hitting detect isn't functioning here either.
I tried another DP port on the graphics card in case that had any effect but nothing different.
Kind of at a loss as to what to try next.

I assume both monitors work via DP when connected one at a time? What if you set the first/main monitor as DP and then try adding the HDMI??

If you still have no joy I guess I'd look at trying the VGA connection (assuming the GPU came with a DVI-VGA adapter and you have a VGA cable) or buying another DP cable.
