Second system wont boot from USB?

Hey guys,

I got a spare machine which consists of a Core 2 Duo E6300,
Gigabyte GA-G41M-Combo,2Gb DDR2 1333Mhz,120Gb Sata2 HDD.

Its only used for Internet browsing,So i was going to shove Lubuntu Linux on it,However the system will just not boot from USB.

I changed the first boot device to USB,Second to HDD...All i get is "Verifying DMI Pool Data...Update Success"Then it hangs there for a while then continues to load Windows XP which is currently installed.

Ive even pressed F12 manually select the boot device as USB and it does the same.

(Btw i made a bootable USB from the ISO using Rufus) AND the USB booted fine on my system...so i know its not a problem with the USB/ISO...It must be something to do with the other system.

Now i know for a fact it does boot a Linux live CD,as i tried a VERY old release of Ubuntu...and yes i could install from that,But id much rather figure out why this system is unable to boot from USB?

Any ideas?

doesn't surprise me it's Gigabyte.

i had problem with my E350N mobo, got usb boot working by formatting it with the "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool" then i could select it from the boot menu Hard drive section.

Right,Just checked at bootup and it says my bios is Version V6.00,Gone onto Gigabyte website and the only bios are F1,F2,F3..So im still no wiser to what actual bios is install on this board..although reading the notes on each of those bios updated they only fix memory issues,Nothing about USB.

Well formatted the USB with "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool",Then remade the USB to a bootable with Lubuntu on...still same crap.

Just cannot get this machine to BOOT from USB...Ive even Tried Opensuse ISO...WONT BOOT...I bet its some stupid setting somewhere although ive gone all over the bios cant see anything related to boot options anywhere other than the boot/startup disk part of the bios...and its all correctly set.

I tried that pal,Its not my USB/ISO thats the problem..thats bootable and working fine,Its the computer..wont boot off the USB/s

And the USBs do work okay on the computer as i was using a Wireless dongle in them with no issues.

I`ve heard that you can use the low level format tool for your USB pen drive. to make it into a CD-ROM ，check this forum, its in Chinese, so you can use the Goolgle translate. Hope it helps you

Are you sure you can actually use a USB flashdrive to install an ISO OS. I`ve had a couple of P45 boards and none of them would let me. Hell, I could`nt even boot from a USB hdd. I just assumed they were not geared up for flashdrives, so just stuck with the good old disc.
