Hi all,

I've got a new rig that I put together just over a month ago.

i7 4770k
Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H
8gig 2400mhz Geil DDR 3 RAM
290x MSI Gaming GPU
120gig Samsung Evo 840 SSD
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
750w RM Corsair
Windows 7

I use the SSD for the OS and mostly played games/programs. The WD black is just a dump and a place were I install none important programs and whatever I download etc.

Since I put rig together the WD HDD is constantly in activity and you can hear it giving it the beans! This is when it's not even being used! It's starting to do my head in!

Anyone have this issue and a way to solve it? (other than disconnecting it:p)

Cheers

Yes I'm using the latest (F8) Bios, it was doing it on the previous Bios as well.

I'll give Resource Monitor a check when it starts doing it again. It can go on for 10 -15 minutes at a time, I can't understand why it's doing it as the drive isn't used for anything other than a dump.

I've a funny feeling that it could either be Microsoft Security Essentials (I haven't got any scheduled scan set or owt) or Chrome, I'll try turning these off one at a time when it kicks in again.
