*Secret Tracks*

I'm not a huge fan of the secret tracks that I've heard so far, most of them seem to be the band just noodling away as if they'd simply decided that they have space to fill. Maybe I just haven't been listening to the right albums though. :)

It often used to be the case on vinyl albums, the second side would occasionally have a "unnamed" track that was just the band messing about a few minutes after the last song..

Now I try to think of examples, my mind goes totally blank! In my opinion bands are doing it now as a "nod" to when it was often done in the 60/70/80s.. I'm sure DMP would be able to list off a load :)

There's a secret track on Around the Fur? I honestly never get that far!

as far as they go, I actually quite like the ones at the end of Robbie Williams' I've Been Expecting You - but then I like that whole album!

Mosquito song just gets on my nerves.

Hello sir, remember me?

Ah, no, isn't that Life Through a Lens?

Good either way :)

I've got an album by the Galactic Cowboys and the secret tracks are all over the place.
I don't know how they did it but to get at them you had to rewind back from other tracks.

GC - Space in your face.

Fantastic Album, great band too. Machine fish was another good album of theirs.
I never did see them live. :(

Please elaborate! I already tried (and failed, albeit minimal effort) finding info on the www (wikipedia tbh) and can't be bothered buying the record. Easier to ask. Do you mean that it is possible for a secret track to exist, and found by rewinding to, before the start of track 5 (or any track mid album) for example, but upon normal playing of the record would be bypassed? That is quite cool actually if so.

I think Mosquito Song at the end of Songs For the Deaf is very good.

Mosquito song is creative genius. Not the secret track I was talking about though, I meant the secret beginning of the album. The real song for the deaf.

There's a good secret track at the end of Travis Man Who come to think of it - "Blue flashing lights, last saturday night, brought the neighbours all out on the street" etc etc

No secret track on around the fir, just 30 mins of silence.

Can it be as offensive as Ash - 1977, now that 'secret track' is disgusting!

Damn, I used to have that album but a geordie no less named Paul nicked it off me in 2001. Just a load of farting if I remember. Only a ltd number of the cds had it though. Actually if I remember correctly he borrowed my copy only to give me his own back which failed to contain the secret track. I should've known that the damned Geordie would natually own every Ash album. Probably has the PJ and Duncan back catalogue too.

Yes.
I'd played the album several times before lending it to a mate.
I can't remember how he found it but he rewinded and started to hear a track he hadn't heard before.
This was the very early days of grabbing MP3's and when I put it into my grabber all these tracks came up.

Woah, that's mint as. Need to figure out how to burn disks like that. I'm all for hidden tracks if they can be cleverly hidden away. What annoys me is the not so hidden track which is a pointless jam 30 mins after end of album or crappy unskippable indexing of tracks resulting in preludes you have to rewind to hear, which if heard when album is played all the way through normally may as well be 'normal, skippable to' tracks.

Although the Nirvana ones are cool even though they have also woken me up once or twice.
