Have a Asus Z97-K, i5 4690k setup that I bought from OCUK and fitted in September everything has been running great until this morning when I switched on my PC and was confronted by the following message:

"Secure Boot Violation. The system found unauthorised changes on the firmware, operating system or UEFI Drives.

Press [OK] to run the next boot drive, or enter directly to BIOS Setup if there or no other boot devices are installed.

Go to BIOS Setup > Advanced > Boot and change the current boot device into other secured devices".

Now I am nervous about messing about with BIOS that's why I bought a pre-overclocked kit from OCUK :)

Have submitted a ticket to OCUK but was wondering if anyone here had any ideas about what could have caused it as I haven't installed any new software in at least a week and everything was working fine until this morning.

Cheers

Go into the BIOS and turn off secure boot.
use your motherboard manual to see where the setting is.

I believe its triggered by a naughty Windows Update

then do a virus/malware scan with malwarebytes or your anti virus just to be safe.

This happened to me following the latest windows update. I had to disable the Secure Keys in order to turn off the Secure Boot in UEFI (Bios). I also went back to a previous restore point.
I also changed my settings so windows updates do not happen automatically - they need my permission! They will only get this once I've created a new restore point.

Good luck with Windows10 updates waiting for your permission to be installed.

Happened to me last night on Z097-WS. Right royal pain in the bum. How can this occur? My updates are not automatic - I have to allow them but no information along the lines of "this will cause you pain" sucker.
