Secure erase SSD - Performance?

Going to be installing my Ryzen 1700 AM4 system tomorrow and wondered if it is:

A) Safe to secure erase my SSD?
B) Any performance benefit to doing it?

I've read online it can get back some degraded performance back to the SSD.

I plan to use Parted Magic to do this.

What ssd is it? Samsung has there own secure erase software in the magician software that you can download.

Doing a secure erase used to fix the slow down issues that the 840 evos had before they fixed it in a firmware update but I see no benefit on doing it with my 850s. Sometimes I do it before re installing my os just to give it a fresh start again but that's about it and safe to do.
