Bit of a rush post this......

Here's what I'm looking to do ( in brief ).

Host a single webpage on a domain name, ( nothing flashy ), a "portal" if you like.

Have a "login" box on said webpage which takes users with the correct login name and password to a set of forums which cannot be accessed by anyone entering incorrect info on the login page.

Sorry if thats a bit vague.

Looking to do this using Dreamweaver if possible, any extensions that will allow this to be achieved?.

If not, how else can I go about this?

Thanks in advance.

the forums you're going to use (i assume you're not writing your own) will have a login system already made. integrate that into your main page. :)

You mean just put a clickable link on the main page to the forums?.

Good call, didnt think about that.

However, fella that wants this doing for him has asked for a "main login page" ( as in the portal page ) that requires a password to first access the forums and then once the forums are landed on from the portal page, another user name and password to access them as per normal for forums, if you get what I mean?.

So its kinda like a "Right Guard: Double Protection" sort of deal.....lol.

Thanks.

well i don't mean a link as such. i mean lift the code from the login page on the forums so you can have the login/password box on the main front page.

and forget the 2 logins idea. users/customers aren't going to want to jump through hoops like that. one login is enough. :)

however you do this is going to require getting your hands dirty with a little php/mysql. however i'm sure which forum package you use will have their own user forums where you can get help on how to do this. it's been done a million times before. loads of sites use their forum backend as the login system for their main page.
