Hi,

I am looking to sell an iphone and before I do I want to make sure that any data on the device Securely erased, I have read some comments that the restore in Itunes does not overwrite the blocks on the memory in the iphone, but just removes it.

Please could someone advise what program I could use to overwrite all the memory on the device so no one can recover the data from it?

Thanks,

The reset option on the phone itself formats it. You could then do a restore if you're that paranoid that somebody is really going to go through the effort of trying to recover data from your device.

But then if you are that paranoid then stick it through one of these:

Or a blender...

But I'm guessing you don't want to destroy it, so that protectstar app is as good as anything. The app only erases 'free' space though, so delete whatever it is you want to get rid of first.
