After seeing the thread on the nicked Fiesta, it got me thinking, whats the best way of securing a car with no factory alarm or immobiliser? I know we have our fair share of Focus and Beemer drivers on here but I know there are also a fair few of us with some of us with some older metal out there.
Up until now, I've just been careful where I've parked it, but even so I've had it broken into and my radio pinched. Now I've got a cheap radio which means I worry less. Now if some professional really wanted to nick my car I'm sure he could, but I doubt he's gonna steal a battered old 205. I just want to stop the opportunist or joyrider really.
So far all I've done it made a separate connection to the starter solenoid, to try and stop it being hotwired. Of coarse it can still be bump started but anything is better than nothing. Anything else that can be done which doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I'm pretty confident with electronics so I don't mind a bit of DIY.
