¯\_(ツ)_/¯
After seeing the thread on the nicked Fiesta, it got me thinking, whats the best way of securing a car with no factory alarm or immobiliser? I know we have our fair share of Focus and Beemer drivers on here but I know there are also a fair few of us with some of us with some older metal out there. :)

Up until now, I've just been careful where I've parked it, but even so I've had it broken into and my radio pinched. Now I've got a cheap radio which means I worry less. Now if some professional really wanted to nick my car I'm sure he could, but I doubt he's gonna steal a battered old 205. I just want to stop the opportunist or joyrider really.

So far all I've done it made a separate connection to the starter solenoid, to try and stop it being hotwired. Of coarse it can still be bump started but anything is better than nothing. Anything else that can be done which doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I'm pretty confident with electronics so I don't mind a bit of DIY. :)

That chain is slightly weedy!

A remote kill switch, or even take the king lead with you from the ignition and a meaty steering lock (stoplock pro/disklok as mentioned.)

Decorate it like the cars Penski posts - no one will want it then

Just kidding Penski me old fruit ;)

Momo wheel and boss kit. Just means you gotta carry the wheel with you :p Alright for overnight though.

i'm pretty sure he said cheap, which rules out alarms being fitted!

hide a switch under the dash that either cuts the feed to the coil or the fuel pump, not fool proof but very cheap!

This or a switch for ignition is a very good cheap idea; just hide it up nicely and people will get a bit confused when they try to start the car

A combination of hidden kill switch, hidden starter, taking the king lead with you and an obvious steering lock.

Get a removeable steering wheel boss, then take the steering wheel with you. That combined with an alarm and a few hidden kill switches will work.

You could buy a wheel clamp. You can buy toad alarm stickers for a few pounds ebay. you can also buy a flashing LED for a quid or so.

don't leave anything on display or in the glove box and leave the glove box open. specialy if you have a pop off front car stereo, they will break in just to see if the front is in the glove box. this is what happened to my saxo.
