Can anyone suggest what I might use to temporarily secure this router to the bars?

I was thinking zip ties in a X across the whole thing?

Zip ties, arranged as two saddle-shaped loops, one for each vertical bar, otherwise the whole lot may just slip down if not tight enough. Hope that makes sense!

See Figure 109 but you're lashing a box to the vertical pole rather than a horizontal pole - you have a tall-ish loop bent over at the top and bottom; lay it over and it's a ring with two high points and two low points.

I can't get zip ties anywhere near tight enough.

I don't want to use duct tape, any other suggestions that I can grab from bandq?

Long cable ties around the router to form two bands top to bottom in line with the upright bars. Then use smaller cable ties to fasten between the bands and the bars.

This method worked, seems to make enough friction that it doesn't just slide down.
