securing word documents

hi

I have some expense forms to email to work and I want to make them so that the figures in the documents can not be amended or edited

am I right in thinking that a pdf file type would do this,

head office need to be able to print them out and access them just not edit them

That works well (set a password though). But printing the docs to pdf would also protect against casual editing.

dont want to set a password,

just so it opens up and changes cant be made

Then change it into a pdf.

Pdf it and digitally sign it otherwise how do you know they wont reacreate it and change values?
