No, no, no! There is a reason Axis cameras are so expensive. They have excellent optics and and are properly designed for the job. You're putting this in for security, right? - so go to a proper company and lease the stuff if you cannot afford to buy it. Security cameras that don't deter are worthless. So they need to be visible and working - that means night vision lenses and IP68 enclosures if they are outside.
Swivels are also expensive, so you may find it's more cost effective to have more fixed field of vision units than fewer moving ones. And IP addressing is absolutely essential to allow proper streaming of the data. If you use USB, the bandwidth is theoretically maxed out at 480Mb/s but in reality the devices will be USB1.1 (12MB/s). Even the simplest network setups will eat that for breakfast, and theoretically you could use Gigabit ethernet, although I don't know oif any cameras capable of that.
USB cams also rule out wireless connections.
Sorry to come over all - expensive of nothing, but if you something worth protecting, then protect it - don't mess about (in my opinion)
