Hello,

Does anyone have some experience here with IP camera's, a quick look shows Foscam is a popular brand, does anyone have experience with this ?

Our Corolla has been parked in front of our house for nearly 2 months in in those months, a few scratches appeared, new door dings appeared, some look accidental scratches, and some look on purpose, not sure if it's just kids or some actual **** with some mental illness or whatever, and also a scuff from some idiot who couldn't park and thus hit it.

Sick of finding new damages to car that isn't even driven and sits parked at our house. It's a banger but still, the people who do this should face consequences...

I'm looking for a camera that can make clear pictures at night from my own house, from the kitchen window or upstairs from bedroom window. Therefore it doesn't have to be an outdoor camera, and while Wifi would be nice, laying a Cat5e cable to it is no problem. The distance form the house to the car is about 7 meters I think, so ideally a camera that has powerful enough IR light for 20 meters would be ideal.

Who has experience with IP cams, and what do I need to set it up? Just a camera and a connection to a PC or NAS that acts as a data dump?
If I want to keep about a weeks worth of video in decent ish quality ( eg. 720 or even 1080p), how much tb's would I need? Does filming through glass limit the camera range (IR light reflection?)? Am I better off simply attaching a camera on the outside wall ?

Budget would be around 100 euro's, but more if needed.

To add, this would be the range ( photo from kitchen window):

Perhaps a 10m camera would be sufficient? Or better safe than sorry and get a 20m ranged one?

EDIT: Not sure if motors is the right place, do we have a place on the forum where this thread fits better?

I'm currently used a Hikvision bullet IP camera connected via PoE to a QNAP NAS.
Quality is 1080p, 25fps, think there's about a months worth of motion footage on there atm and is around 442gb in size.

Ideally, mounted on the exterior wall.

If the cam is IR and you want pics at night then you need to mount it outside, otherwise you will get some great video of you window glass.

Shame, as that means attention and potential privacy issues, if filming from inside the camera can be hidden well, if from outside, not so much.

What about camera inside, but IR lights outside?

Any suggestions for a good camera without IR lights? I'll buy separate IR lightning to light the car from a different room/glass while filming from behind glass.

I would mount a poe outdoor cam on that tree.
high enough to avoid eyes.
or mount it up on the house.

You don't need to worry about privacy... its on your house...

Hikvision DS-2CE16D1T-IT3 Any good ? No IR rubbish but has a day/night filter.

How is their software?
