** SEEING RED? CORSAIR FORCE GT "EXTREME RED" SSDs ** - IN STOCK TOMORROW!!

Do these use the same sandforce controller as the Vertex drives?

And I presume you couldn't RAID a Force 3 with a Vertex 2... :p

Nope, the Vertex 3 is 2281, the GT is 2200.

If that's in reference to my previous comments; I'm buying TWO GTs (RAID-0) and putting vertex 2e in media PC. That OCZ has been very reliable but it's not been quite fast enough for my usage. When I get them, I will post back benches in RAID-0 only. As with this SSD every week overnight, I will image GTs with Acronis True Image for peace of mind. I did that anyway on previous 300GB Raptor's. :)

Aww, I wanted the GTi version . . . .

Never heard of the GTi, what's the difference?

No its predominantly because I've already got one of the 120 GB Vertex 2 drives and have been thinking about Striping with another one to give the system a good boost :)

Maybe its time to save for a SATA 3 controller and a couple of newer drives :)

Guys what is this IOPs business, the more the better i assume but what does it actually do, now i am torn between agility3, vertex3, force3

Input output per second, ie how many tasks can it *potentially* do within 1 second.

Other than synthetic benching you are unlikely to see stated IOs in realworld.

Good ssd and one of the fastest, problem is corsair s3 is almost the same, and cheaper buy almost £20, which i am going for :p

Specs may look similar but from a marketing point of view, the Corsair Force Series 3 is aimed at high-end users. The Corsair Force GT is aimed at the enthusiast market who want everything including trimmings. The majority of the latest Sata6GBps SSDs includes 3-year-warranty.

Bench Results

I haven't got around to backing everything on my existing setup for a fresh install on these GTs raid-0. In the meanwhile I ran a some quick tests on one Sata6Gb/s GT SSD 120GB freshly formatted with allocation size of 4k. Connection is via Maxell 6Gb/s on P8P67-D B3 Rev.

I'm happy that there is certainly is a noticeable improvement compared to my older SSD. The only disappointment noted is the maximum/average rated speeds being a little low in HD Tune - guru3d managed 390MB/s max - maybe that is down to using Maxell Sata 6Gb/s controllers than using Intel's controllers which is what you should do.

Rather than leave it there, here are the IOPS results to settle buying a GT including the Caviar black which I know is pointless vs SSD:
