Hi,

I have an Acer Aspire One D255 netbook.

It has a 250gig 5400rpm HD, which by the sounds of the frequent clicking and banging, as well as the constant boot issues, is on it's way out.

The netbook has no DVD-rom and came with no Windows 7 Starter disk, I ideally want to clone the contents of my drive to my desktop PC, but I don't have an external drive (and I don't particularly want to pay out for one either).

Can anyone suggest the best way of copying over to my PC?

I have a broadband router (with wifi), ethernet cables, usb cables.

Any ideas?

I suppose I could remove the HD from the netbook and connect it up to the desktop.

Thanks a lot,
Ben

Acronis will back up over a network but it costs. There may be freeware back up software which can back up via networks. Worth searching the forums here. I think I saw a few posts about freeware back up software not too long ago.
