Or plain old Sega Rally as it's being called in Europe.
Is anybody else fuming at the lack of PC demo for this. Just like with Bioshock the 360 owners have there demo in the bag and we are stuck waiting.
It's out next Friday (28th) and whilst I have it on pre-order I don't wanna buy it without a demo first.

Maybe im the only one looking forward to this on PC :( It's the only game I have been going loopy to get my hands on since Enemy Zero on the Saturn.

If the thread in console's in anything to go by the demo is being recieved with much applause for retaining the original Sega Rally feel something we have not truely had since the Saturn.

So anyone else looking forward to this, and slightly peaved that we have no demo.

Demo Now Available

Thanks markyb for the heads up.

Buggy Port.

I get 70FPS MIN in Bioshock and 80FPS MIN in MOH-A and even buggy console port DiRT gets me 35FPS MIN all at 1920x1440 but REVO gets me 12-25FPS AVG at whatever RES I can set near that, where 1600x1200 would be nearest 4:3, the RES changes made little difference. to gaining FPS, unless FRAPS is reading wrong as it does seem non laggy.

Am I missing something here, did they release a PC demo? I'm checking FP/Gamershell daily as I can't wait to give this a try. Roll on Friday, or hopefully even Thursday :D

Not saying anything, there is another who mentioned the game so I inputed.

Well your input has me worried and this is adsactly why I wanted a demo before the release :(
Looking at your spec and you only get those dodgy FPS. Im only on a X2 4200 so it's not looking too good. I thought as the graphics were not gonna be mind blowing it would run realy good even on the less blessed machines.
Still have it pre-ordered and I know if I cancel it I will just re-order it again on Thursday, hopefully we will see a demo before friday.

Im realy looking forward to the online play though, hopefully there will be a online leaderboard with all the times for the tracks from across the world like there was for Sega Rally 2.

Well it's out Friday in the EU, 10th Oct is the USA date, as it is out this Friday over here it is very possible that shops allready have stock and people have a copy legit allready so please stop the warez talk as I don't want this thread locked, Thanks. (and yes shops can and do let the games go early if they have them in)

Well it's just too early to say for sure regarding how the PC version plays. There is virtualy no buzz surrounding the PC version, im just thankfull that they bothered releasing a PC version at all as it's a no brainer that it won't be a huge seller as it's out on 360 and PS3 as well, and people with either console will most likely got the console version over the PC.

I just hope it goes back to the roots of what Sega Rally is ment to be like and if it contains a good multiplayer element, something which Dirt was lacking that we could have a great little game on our hands.

Of course if it runs like a dog with 2 legs on a mid range PC then im just going to sit in the corner and cry.

Helmut are you a Sega Rally fan? Whats your verdict, I know you said a few lines earlier but as your my only source of info anything you can add is apreciated.
Is there any multiplayer option? Online leaderboards ETC? any sign of the original tracks or cars from the Saturn version. I could ask questions all day, I truely am a Sega Rally geek :D
Despite the apprent bad frame rates is it playable in your opinion, is there ghost cars? I would be  if there is no ghost cars like the Saturn version had.

Oh and a few :mad::mad: of those to Sega for no PC demo. PC gamers do exist you know.

Graphics aint supposed to be OMG WOW. It's an arcade game always has been grew up with Sega, Im in my element with this :D

XP

Im going to try 16xAA as that should perform around the same as 8xMSAA

Excellent news Tom, XP here also so you have raised my spirits. It's nice to see someone else understands how Sega Rally is supposed to look feel and play. If you have not grew up with it you just won't get it. It's not your average racer it's "special" :p

Does it have ghost cars? any sign of any sort of worldwide leaderboard ingame, might not be live yet as it's still early.

Oh and I look forward to a good mutiplayer thrashing of this with anyone thats intrested, hopefully have a copy before friday.

If they have hidden the Desert track from Sega Rally 1 in there somewhere, I think I will let out a manly cry.

Well from screenshots is certainly does not dissapoint, any news on ghost cars, can you race against your best time as a ghost?
Are you using a gamepad? from Helmut's grab I see a controller config page, so PS2 pads etc are a go go I assume.

Oh and thanks for the shots Tom, I know it's time consuming so thanks for taking the time to up them.

Quick question re:your wireless pad Helmut, I know it says there is no lag but I want to here it from a gamer. There is no lag right? Those cars turn when u say so and not a fraction of a second later. I can see it not mattering so much in FPS but in a rally game it needs to be 100% on the ball.

Thanks for the update Skeeter, my copy still has'nt left the place of game playing. Glad to see there is a good multiplayer option, I think this is where the game is going to shine
Now can you save a ghost car and race against it? This is the one feature I still don't have confirmation on.

Ghosts can also be downloaded off the top times on any stage allowing players to race directly against the very best there is. Should a player set a new world record, a ghost of their time will be uploaded to the scoreboards for people to download and compete against.

That is a pretty nifty feature right there, maybe other games do this idk, maybe the 360 has done this for years idk, but to do this with Sega Rally on the PC
Going to be a great competitve game this, with endless replayability. We will have to do a OcUK scoreboard or something down the line.

Finaly got my hands on this + a decent game pad. It's everything I could have wanted it to be, true Sega Rally.

My only niggle is I get absolutely abysmal performance in the Rally's unless I have the settings on there lowest.
I can run everything on high when just doing the time trials, but throw 6 cars on the track and it just dies.
Spec is X2 4200 and a GTX, so was expecting better but I can live with playing the rally's on low to unlock the cars for the time trials + world rankings.

Overall no regrets what so ever and I can see many hours spent trying to get to the top of the world rankings on at least one track, allready some awesome times posted which I can't get anywhere near :D

So I might mess about with some drivers, if anyone has a GTX and a similar spec CPU what drivers are you using. (I think im on the Bioshock ones)

Menu's are nice and simple, setting up a pad is simple, loading times are virtualy zero, and on high it does look stunning and the way the tracks get ripped up during a rally is awesome. Meh I love it what else is there to say.

I like it as well, although my ps2 pad was a bit twitchy, not sure if a 360 one would be better.

Its all good fun though, il test it out on my new quad core, 8800gtx rig tomorrow.

Yeah I tried a PS2 pad and it was ok, just as you say twitcy. I picked up a wireless logitech rumble pad and it's loads better, just does'nt rumble much. It's certainly a game that you could never play with the keyboard.
Suprised there is no option to adjust steering sensitivity which takes a lot of getting use to as it stands now, very very sharp and pretty much impossible to recover from the slightest mistake.

As for difficulty settings, I don't think there is one as the races are split into novice amateur and pro/master/expert I forget. So it gradualy just get's harder the higher up the ladder you go. Im still not able to get 30 points in the first round :o although I do have a time up on the Safari 1 track world rankings all be it some 20 seconds off first place :(

can u play multiplayer against other people.if so is it any good??

Yep but not tried it yet.

Does anyone use a http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GC-015-LG&groupid=702&catid=288&subcat= Rumble 2 pad and know how to get it to rumble in SR. It rumbled during instllation and it rumbles when I turn the vibration on/off but it is not recieving any rumble info from the game. I have ticked the allow force feedback box and I have set the rumble to 150% yet still my hands they don't shake :(

Theres a vibration tick box for pads and ff tick box for other in the other tab, you ticked the right box?
Edit - Oh cool didnt know pads had ff with it being wireless. Nice 1. :) Tho i bet batteries get used up very quick. Is the batteries your using not used up hence no feedback?

---

About mp i had a race against someone, was absolutly fine, tho i lost lol.

I don't have a "other" tab, just audio options, controler options and graphics options. In controller options I have allow ff ticked. New batteries, and no low battery light. I'll give Dirt a quick try see if it works on that.

EDIT
Yeah works in Dirt just fine.
