Sega Rally

I was ready to buy this tomorrow but with PGR4 being so close to release I don't really want to be playing two racing games. So I think this might get picked up when its dropped in price.

Might give this a miss and get PGR4 instead

Why not just buy this play it to PGR4 is out and trade it in.

Its gonna cost you all of what £15-£20 to do so?

Thats potentially hours of entertainment for not too much money, being of course you like the demo or originals.

Its only a game, its only entertainment how much would you spend at the Cinema or in a pub for a few hours entertainment?

Ill have both, hell i might even trade in Forza 2 cos its not gonna get played with these two now soon available...

Put this on last night, thought I would have an hour or so on it, ended up playing it all night, brilliant fun, really quality gaming, the graphics I think just suit the gameplay perfectly and I think they are more than good enough, the track deformation is brilliant and really works. So glad I picked it up :)

Have to agree, played a few hours online and it's good fun. The demo really doesn't do the game justice. Have noticed that when you search for custom games more often than not no games show. Yet when joining a quick game instead you go into the exact game type that you custom searched for, so it's obviously there. Another minor niggle is people get away with using the walls/edges too much, on some tracks they don't even try and brake, instead just using the outside of the corner to steer them round. All in all though, it's very good, especially when you're all tightly packed six abreast trying to take the same corner at once :)

Jesus, how is everyone finding this now. I'm 30 odd points off unlocking the finals races for the first championship and I'm finding it rock hard.

I got 90/90 for the first league, 72/90 for the 2nd and 76/120 for the last. Even with manual gears racing the AI on some tracks I just cant close them down especially the expert league. I will win one of the 3 races and come nowhere in the others.

Its then getting frustating having to redo the section to won to get to the last stage you flopped at. Its got so my patience can only stand one section per day.

I still cant decide whats the fastest route through a corner. Ive got to a hairpin and taken it perfectly down shifting and sliding and gain nothing on the car. So I think **** it whack the stick over the next time and just try to take it in 6th and I make up ground even though I'm sliding off the fence.

How are you doing Nintenjo???

ye im struggling too with same thing need another 19 points to get to the final thing that makes it much harder is the fact u have to do the 3 races without any way of saving each race all fun i guess apart from the expert league making me feel like a numpty lol :p

Yeah thats whats frustrating me. I had a look on a few other forums and lots of people are struggling so I dont feel so bad.:D

I have unlocked the Modified league but i'd prefer to finish the first set before I move on.

The one level that bugs me more than any other is the canyon one with all the water.

Not having that much problems not won every race or rally but won the finals in the 1st series forget the name and the modified, just going towards the final in masters now, don't think its that challenging to get the required points but banging off every part of scenery will hurt you once the AI is a bit harder.

I think the tyres are seriously flawed. I've been playing online against the top 20 in the world and they are using road tyres on anything thats off road. Road tyres on the snow.

I was then racing them on a safari track and put road tyres on myself and straight away I was competing much better against them.

I then went back to the alpine races I was struggling at on SP, whacked on road tyres and was beating them.

Tyres work as follow:

Road Tyres are about 5mph extra top end.
Offroad Tyres give you better grip on mos top surfaces.

So.. if your good at driving on lower deformed surfaces etc you'll get on better with ROAD tyres. But the off-road are a bit better if your new to SR.

Hope that helps.. :D

Well i havnt actually played the single player much, as i played that laods at work. But i think i am a few races off getting 100% on the premier classes.

Then ill move onto modified :D But ive been so tired lately i havnt been able to concentrate :P. But it shouldnt be that hard danny, make sure you use the road tyres, and play a bit more agressive.

PS> I still want to give you a game online.. !! But your never on.

Ah K so that explains why everyone is using road tyres. Does the car make much difference in SP championships.

I know the different classes does online. I was getting whupped online today by a guy in the 1992 Lancia until I switched to the same as him. He was beating me by a good 15 seconds til i used the lancia. Then it was 50/50 and he quit to go find other newbs that didnt know why they were getting pounded :)

Do you use auto or manual. Again at the start I assumed Manual was making me quicker but looking at the fast guys online they are using Auto.

Glad you said that, there are people from work that browse these forums and they always used to go on about how much I did play ;)

I think we are just on at different times so far or I've been co-oping Halo.

Canyon 1 is a classic dude :) Your best off with Off-Road tyres on that one and learn nice straight route around the puddlles as they will slow you down a lot.

I find it hard to pick out the puddles in this one, what annoys me is when I miss one and the AI goes through one without slowing. In manual gear races i'm knocking down to 5th so as to keep the speed and revs up.

This morning it was doing my nut in on a few races. 10 points by a mile then 6 then 1. The tropical tracks I find tough maninly 3 and Alpine 1 at the minute.

I need another 22 points now to unlock Final, from the expert league i'm now

20/30
24/30
20/30
17/30

In that order, I win one then struggle on the rest.

I nearly put it on Ebay in a temper this morning but i've learnt that lesson once this week already ;)

Well the manual vs Auto gear thing is a strange one.. Manual gears are better technically.. They have better top-speed and acceleration..

BUT and its a big but.. you have to be spot on with your changes and personally makes it very difficult to time it perfectly so you generally lose out. But i never liked manual gears tbh. You should get on fine with Auto unless your playing against absolute pro's.

Manual Gears is more aimed at time-trial.. but experiment :D Its all about fun.. and often the first lap is the most important.

PS. Catch-UP in single player is actually very good funaso, but can only be played in non-ranked matches. But the original arcade had a lot of rubber banding and always made races close and quite interesting.

Yeah I came up against one of those manual shift pro's earlier, a guy by the GT Safron Weevil. Ultra was in the same game as me too. The weevil guy came past me a few times like I wasnt moving yet I was on the limiter in top.

I still havent had a win yet, a few seconds and I've led for ages.

I did notice you was no33 in the world :p

Pretty much no one talks in this so far, with 6 Ocukers it would be pretty good fun.

I find it hard to get a game though at the minute that isnt safari 1. If I host an artic I get no interest. I think Safari 1 is the most like the old dessert track on Sega rally, pretty much flat with the jumps.

The high rankers seems to only want to play that.

Bahhhhh!

17 points to go, Canyon 1 is killing me. I can win the other canyons just not this one. 5th is my best so far I think.

Tommorow I think I will just work on that track, i'm losing so much time through the canyon even when i'm puddle dodging.

I'm losing to the first place car by a huge margin, its the track i'm worst at.
