Right so I'm wondering if this is a sensible build I have put together from the point of view of what motherboard I have (and everything else)

In the future I might be getting a SSD and another 4gig of ram but I don't need those yet

Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6950 "Dual Fan Edition" 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE DIRT3 Game
Asus P8Z68-V PRO Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
orsair Obsidian 650D Gaming Midi-Tower - Black
Corsair HX 750W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit
Corsair Hydro H60
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Microsoft SideWinder X6 Gaming Keyboard
LiteOn IHAS124-19 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)
Sony Optiarc AD-5260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

I already have a nice monitor mouse and speakers

whats it going to be used for mostly?

*edit*
just to help everyone else out, this is a ~£1185 build with tower, keyboard and OS
for some reason you have two DVD drives

not quite sure how ive managed it, but ive got a 570 + i7 2600k within budget (well, £10 over the OP's build)

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 570 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £254.99
1 x Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor £247.99
1 x Silverstone Raven 2 RV02W-EW Evolution Windowed Case - White £155.99
1 x Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £144.98
1 x OCZ Z-Series 850W '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply £99.98
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Bundle - Home Premium 64 Bit £68.40
1 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKX) £32.99
1 x Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) £59.99
1 x Thermalright Silver Arrow CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA775/AM2/AM3) £50.99
1 x Microsoft SideWinder X4 Gaming Keyboard - Retail (JQD-00006) £29.99
1 x Sony Optiarc AD-5260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £15.98
Total : £1,179.97 (includes shipping : £14.75).

if your only going to be gaming, then you can save £70 and use the i5 2500k, as there is absolutly no difference between that and the i7 2600k in gaming performance

*edit*
ive just noticed youve put two DVD drives in your build. any reason for that, or did you just forget to remove one of them?

Possible disk to disk copying.

yeah, thats the only good reason i can think of, but with them being two different makes i thought that it was more likely that the OP had originally put the Lite-on in the basket, noticed that the sony was cheaper, put that in the basket and forgot to remove the lite-on
