How chuffing hard is it to get hold of decent plans for a diy shed!

I'd have though it'd be easy, plenty of people wanting to build their own sheds, but you either have to buy the plans at auction, they're rubbish drawings with no detail or overly engineered.

What i'm looking to build is a shed like this one, approx 6'x8'. I would buy a cheap one & spec it up a bit (better windows, insulation etc) but they're hard to find with a door at the end.

There are probably no self build plans because it is a shed. Basically a box with a sloping roof. As mentioned above just plan it out yourself, buy the wood and get building.

At 6'x8' it would probably work out cheaper to buy one.

lol
Get some paper and a pencil and shoot for the stars.
If you can't plan a shed I don't think you should be trusted with a saw or any other dangerous object :p

You wouldn't believe how unbelievably easy it is to build something like this, i designed and built my son a summer / playhouse in the summer, it is really sturfy and looks decent.

I started with the dimensions i wanted, built a frame out of treated CLS, then log lapped around it.

I'm sure most people could whack a shed together, the idea behind using a well made plan is to save time and money

The wood will still cost the same wether you show them you have some paper with lines on or not :P

And the time it takes to find some decent plans you may as well have either made yoru own or made your own shed.

The plans will however help prevent you getting to the the last panel and finding that you've either almost run out of wood (another trip to the store :( ), or got a load of spare :)

We basically worked out the size we wanted our shed to be, then drew up some simple plans on paper for the whole thing, then broke it down into panels (we made the panels up in the garage as 7x8 units, then carried them out for assembly).
Of course it gets a little more complicated when you do more than a basic shed :)

Re the plans, there are a number of places online that have them (try some american sites), either free or cheap and if you can't find what you're looking for you can always adjust them to suit:) (make them a bit bigger/smaller).

I did this a while ago and it worked out cheaper to buy the shed. I bought a 6x8 for £200 inc delivery and worked out that the wood alone would have cost over £250
