Hey guys, 2 days ago I put all my computer components togheter. Today my windows 7 arrived and I tried turning it on for the first time, and my screen stays black, saying that there is no signal from the computer. I've tried 2 different screens on DVI and AVG but it just doesn't seem to be getting any signal. Do you guys know what I might have done wrong?

Have you use the standoffs to mount the motherboard.

Power to the gfx card? Everything else plugged in ok, pictures would help of the board.

Sorry, here's the list:

Graphics card:
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4890 Vapor-X 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Processor:
i5 750 2.66Ghz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156) - OEM Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156) - OEM

Motherboard:
MSI P55-CD53 Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard MSI P55-CD53 Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard

Memory:
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB ) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH)

Harddrive:
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (WD1001FALS)

Power supply:
Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650TXUK) [CMPSU-650TXUK]

Case:
Coolermaster Elite 334 Midi Case- Black (No PSU) Coolermaster Elite 334 Midi Case- Black (No PSU)

CPU cooler:
Akasa AK-968 X4 CPU Cooler (Socket 939/AM2/AM3/775/1156/1366)

Optical DVD drive:
Sony Optiarc AD-7240S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

And yes I used the standoffs to mount the motherboard

what is the CMOS?

I'm a beginner when it comes to building computers, I used he System build guide and hoped it would work

Next is the hard drive. This is exactly the same as the CD/DVDRW drive. But instead plug the SATA cable into SATA port 0. Again it does not matter which SATA port number, apart from keeping things neat and knowing which port the hard drive is in.

I put the hard drive SATA cable into port 2 because I couldn't find a port 0

Might that be the cause of the problem?

Also on the Memory, I put the modules into the same colour slots. Using this picture:

Might it be possible that that 1 and 2 are reverse for my motherboard? The manual is extremely unclear on what is 1 and 2 as they have the tipped over to the side so it is unclear which is up and which is down.

If you not posting it doesnt matter about the hard drive, it would show an error there.

CMOS is a little battery located normally near the pci slots, remove it wait a minute put
it back in, sometimes fixes little problems like this.

remove it with the computer on or off?

And i take it it's the flat one looking like a coin?

Have you plugged the 4 pin 12v connector to the board?
Have you connected both (2 x) molex to 6 pin adaptors to the GFX card?
No need to pull the CMOS battery. Power off the machine at the power supply itself or at the mains socket. Move the CMOS jumper, probably to the rightmost pins. (I usually give it a minute or two to be sure). Move the jumper back to its original position and switch on. The CMOS jumper appears to be next to the CMOS battery on your board. (The battery is the circular silver 'coin' in the middle of the board.)

Let us know how you get on :)

I plugged a 4 pin connector to the board for CPU power, though I have no idea if it was 12v. It was the only 4 pin plug my PSU supplied.
I connected 2 6 pin plugs from my PSU to the GFX car.
I pulled the CMOS battery out (before I read your post) and powered the machine of at the PSU.

2 minutes passed so I'm gonna turn it all back on.

Nothing changed :/

Should I try starting up with 1 stick of ram? as written here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18081540

Also, I'm not 100% sure the RAM is in the right position, I placed them using the system build guide, seeing how the motherboard manual is just very unclear on it

Someone a few weeks ago had a problem like this on an MSI board. Put the memory in the other slots and try, that worked for him.

I don't get any beeps at the start up and the fans do start going.

I'm gonna try the memory now, and if that doesn't work I'll look into this:
"Verify that the power supply voltage switch is set correctly. If the input voltage for the power supply is not correct (based on your country) then your computer may not turn on completely.

There's a good possibility that your PC wouldn't power on at all if this switch is wrong but an incorrect power supply voltage might also prevent your computer from starting properly in this way too."

Because I bought this computer from Great-Brittain, but I live in the Netherlands, which might cause problems?

With regards to the memory the board inidicates the slots are laid out -

With the CPU to the left :

DIMM 2 DIMM 1 DIMM 4 DIMM 3

Put your memory in the two black slots and let us know.

Netherlands is 230v so leave it as is. DO NOT CHANGE THE SWITCH as it could have unpredictable results.

IT'S WORKING! woohoooW1

Thanks guys! thanks for the quick replies and the help!! I'm gonna go for the exiting work of installing windows 7!

You guys really are the best, sharing all your intelligence to strangers for nothing!

Thanks a million

Do people a favor and when you get help and say its working please say why it worked what did you do to get it working.
It just helps people if they have same problem.
