Self Employed OCUK'ers.

Self employed bricklayer! Im "only" 22 so still live my maa until me and the missus decide to get our own place and i have been self employed since i was 19 after finishing my apprenticship(sp)! Money is good as long as you keep on top of invoices etc.

Have my own print deign business which I run in my spare time as well as working full time in a similar field.

Been doing it for several years though the time has come and I've decided I really want to push on with it and get advertising to bring more work in with the aim of saving for a house deposit so my girlfriend and I can sell our flat and get a real house with a garden!!

Big boring business systems.

Unix. Informix (read Oracle). Thin front end, and a bit of middle-ware. For a big national (non-IT) logistics company.

Basically, the really boring side of IT. Big business. Database tables with 42 million rows .. trying to make the IT invoicing process run in under 30 hours rather than > 60 hours by adding indexes and optomising code .. figuring out how we're going to do the impending VAT rate change for European clients that pay us in Euros -- very dull stuff.

I work from a front end functional perspective. Currently working on a Rollout of Financials Release 12. So, implementing core modules and working on phase 2 of the project.

So that is within the realm of Oracle/DBA consultant? What range is the pay in? (Doesn't sound awful, if you enjoy it then that's all that matters!) :)
