Selling bike fast

Nice! Road tax working in my favor? That's lucky!

I'll be combining all the extra's tomorrow night and taking a snap of them. I've got no current ones of bike as the weather is ****!

Yep, basically any car or bike anyone buys now has no tax, it doesn't transfer. Doesn't stop 90% of adverts still saying "x months tax", people just don't realise. The new owners will be driving around thinking the tax disc in the window means they're taxed, until they get a letter off the police/dvla

Ah, so in that sense, it's a scam... Bloody cheeky.

Other than that, any tips for my ad? Anyway to make it stand out?

The problem you'll have is that sort of bike at that price needs a buyer looking for exactly that bike, and as it's the end of season, there are less buyers about. Have you compared prices to other local bikes? And I hate to say it, but any bike mentioning a gearbox/engine replacement instantly turns me off a little - not sure why as surely a newer engine/gearbox is a good thing - maybe subconsciously I think "if it's had to have a new gearbox/engine, what other issues could it have?" - probably isn't the thought of everyone, but you might be putting off some buyers. Of course you need to declare it, especially as you'll have all the paperwork for the work done.

Tell you what, I'll increase my offer to a tenner :D

Good luck with the sale, if you didn't need to sell quickly it would have sold by now, guaranteed! :p:)

Lovely bike but I honestly think you'll struggle to sell it for that price as you're competing with dealers that can offer finance.

Indeed, but that doesn't include a few crucail extra's mine has, such as top box, upgraded rear suspension, new fork seals (recent) and new chain and sprockets (recent).

I imagine I'll have to drop price though as I can't let it go further than the end of the month :( Needs to be gone by then.

Crucial extras? The dealer one posted above has side boxes and is £500 cheaper .

Good luck, but you haven't priced it for a quick sale!

Lowest I can go is £8,995. And as for the dealer one, yes £500 more as the suspension upgrade is £600 alone, let alone new sprockets and chain, fork seals and top box.

No chance of waiting until summer, has to be gone by the end of the month :(

Hopefully I'll get better photo's tonight, as the weather is looking pretty good!

Thanks

I don't think pictures will help much tbh as it's not the time of year to be selling a high value bike, it's the middle of October, there's only 10 days to go till the end of bst, and the clocks ticking loud 'n' fast because you've left it too late.

Why oh why didn't you use ebay, madness.
It just has so many times more footfall than any other motor vehicle selling sites, there isn't even a comparison any more.
Plus it's far more flexible with things like buy now or make offer.

That's not how it works. You can't just add the cost of your upgrades onto the sale price and expect the value to the buyer to be your cost price. Plus 'upgrades' can often put people off vs. a standard example.

I don't think you fully understand the point I'm making, I'm generally using the term upgrades loosely. The fact of the matter is, the work gone into the bike (when selling at the right time) adds value to the bike. I'm far from slapping on the retail cost of the work that's been done. I just feel it's worth a bit more because of it.

I'm selling at the wrong time so I'm going to have to match the 'standard' spec bikes to stand out, which I now realise and I'm kicking my self for.

It is on ebay?
