Selling Digital Games 2nd hand.. Why not?

I'm not too bothered about not owning the games I buy digitally I paid £50 I got many hours of entertainment seems like a fait exchange

It's really not a fair exchange though, as once you could have had all those hours, and still owned the game. It's not the same deal as before, it's a worse exchange and there's no two ways about it.

Greenman gaming when it first launched allowed people to trade back their digital games, I worked there for a short while when it first launched. Not sure if they still do that though.

I remember that, I was offered something like £15 for a game I had paid about a pound for, was great :D

Just think if (or when) Steam goes bust and everybody loses.

I do miss having your nice boxed game that you could have on the shelf.

I do not miss manual patching, local saves, installing from multiple discs, damaged discs.. the benefits of digital distribution are too much to go back to physical media for me.

tbh, i'd say the opposite, i'd like to see more releases of old (particularly console) games for pc's.

i know some games/devs have done it which is nice to see, but would be nice to see more.

doesn't need to be a re-master per say, but i'd happily pay a few £ to have an old game from my childhood on steam than the £££ it'd cost to get the consoles, discs, controllers etc all in sufficiently good condition to be playable (not to mention space, part of the reason i game on pc these days is i don't have the space for more than 1 entertainment system).

i'm sure the devs wouldn't mind getting some money for re-releasing old content, i mean it's a business model that's served nintendo pretty well..... (and that's a joke before i get swarmed)
