Selling on GumTree

To be fair there are so many caveats and *alerts* on internet banking nowadays (anti-fraud/scam etc) I expect you would be really hard pushed to get a BACS payment reversed especially for something reasonably insignificant in value.
 
I've only ever sold on facebook marketplace or gumtree as collection only or local delivery, then cash on collection

If people are asking to ship abroad, especially Nigeria, its probably a scam
