Hi Guys

I am going to try and sell my car as the summer is coming and i could really be doing with the cash. I just wanted to ask your opinion on the description and what to expect money wise?

This is a reluctant sale of a nice example of tastefully modified Mondeo ST24. I have spent a lot of time and effort getting the car to this stage and will be sorry to see it go.

I bought the car about 5 years ago from a guy who had it as a company car to get around the country so most of the miles have been motorway miles. I have done about 20,000 since owning it and in that time have taken great care of the car.

One of the stand out features of the car is the sound system, pretty much a full JL system custom fitted. It sounds very clean and is built to be an SQ system, music sounds very nice through this system. Once you hear it you will not be disappointed.

I like to think the car as a one off as I haven’t seen any around that look like it, in style or that are modified to the same spec. I tried to buy the best I could when modifying the car and I hope that is reflected in the spec list above. The sound system alone was £1400!

As I said this is a reluctant sale. Offers welcome!

Agreed.

Strip what you can and eBay it. Put it through an MOT and take some decent pictures (one from each side, one from the front, one from the back and one interior) rather than "artistic" closeups of the badges and things.

With that mileage I cant see it being worth more than a few hundred and at that price, no ICE system in the world will make it worth more

I agree, sell the ice separately, someone that wants it will pay you good money specifically for it then. The car isn't worth much at all.

Well its been parked up since September of 08. It had 99k when i cought it and now has 125k so its more like 26k i have done in it. Pretty sad the money involved when i think about the money i have spent on it, never again!

I will list it on some Mondeo forums and ask if anyone is interested in parts if i break it.

The no TAX/MOT will be a killer, also having 'tastefully modified' in the opening sentence will scare away a large majority of buyers. If you want to include mods list them later in the ad after getting the basics out the way.

But as others have said, take out the ICE and sell it separately or consider breaking it as you may get more that way.

Thats what I'm was wondering - there must be something pretty wrong with it if its not an easy pass, in which case the wheels alone are probably worth more than the car

Well i guess i could but its not exactly going to raise the value that much, or is it?

Yes, considerably!!! Very few people will buy a car with no MOT. An MOT costs 30 quid and lasts a year, if a seller hasn't got one, people will assume it is because the car has so many problems it is unable to pass an MOT without significant work.

You could easily get over a grand for that car with an MOT, yet I doubt anyone will bother to call without one.

without an mot i wouldnt touch it. last car i bought with no mot cost me £50 which i would have got back in scrap. sell the ice as you wont get a decent price in the car. think about the market. people want cars but with ice and extras in you're limiting your market big time to school boys with rich parents.

'hassle' :p

Anything that opens with 'moded' and the lack of MOT would totally 110% put me off, I can assure you of that. Some good advice here though, provided it can pass the MOT without much expense, it's very much worth it.

no MOT = needs more than the car is worth in repairs

MOT = no repairs, or at least none the buyer will be "forced" to do.

Thats how the buyers will see it. So its definately worth giving it an MOT + 6 months Tax.

Also dont advertise all the mods, remove as many of them as you can and dont mention the rest - it'll put a lot of people off. Advertise it with the standard features of the car (Electrics, leather etc etc). If Kevin McChav is interested, he'll ask you if you've modded it, innit.
