Just waiting for a callback from Microsoft refarding sending my console back for repair (sceen freeze) Anyway, i know that i take the HD off, but where is my xbox live gold account info stored? Is there anything that i need to do, or do i just take the hd off and log back in to live when i get the console back?

Also i am guessing that this is going to be a bad time to send it back, being crimbo and all. Should i brace myself for a long return time do you think?

Just take the HD off, all you need to do :).

As you say, given the holiday period, I would expect at least a couple of weeks turn around, but don't be surprised if it's longer.

Thanks for that. And yep, guess i will need to get re-aquented with playing games on my pc....oh well.

Thanks again:rolleyes:

Mine is due back on Monday - will have been 10 days since MS received it.

I bet it's not the same one, just about everyone I know whose sent one away recently has had a much newer one sent back with a note to say "to speed up getting your console back to you we have sent a replacement"

My other 360 needs to go back, I've been meaning to do it for months. The dvd drive sounds like it's and angle grinder cutting concrete. Struggles to play legit dvd films.

I wonder if they are sending jaspers back? Either way, mine started today with a screen freeze and ended up with the 3 red lights...

Just waiting for the guy to call me back to give me the dispatch number or something.

No they ain't sending jaspers back. You get the refurn board based on the falcon without the HDMI is you had an original pre-falcon board. If not you just get the falcon with a hdmi.

Awaiting mine too....you can check status on xbox.com using your xbox live nick.

4. Device shipped to customer - Your console has been repaired or replaced. We are shipping it back to you.

I do hope it comes back before Xmas :fingerscrossed:

I just got mine back from Microsoft and its a replacement. I was slightly disappointed to find that it is an original motherboard by the looks of it and not a falcon :(

how do you tell if its a falcon?

i sent my 360 back a few weeks ago, ms sent me a brand new one which is nice :)

They didn't send you a brand new one they sent you a refurb. I got the same as really new manufacture date but it's still a refurb and your warranty only runs from the date of the original.

How do they tell what xbox is yours then, for instance i have 2 i regularly use - but i have a 3rd which has 3RLOD its within 3 years warranty but do i need to prove anything?

Are you sure this is correct as I checked the online Console Management thingy for my returned console and it says that my warranty runs out in a years time.

Nope not with that date and they will know none are quite 3 years old yet. When it goes back to a service center and they replace it with a refurb they fill in the paperwork and transfer over the console ID and serial number so the replacement although having a new date still goes by the original purchase console.

Just in case of any issues I have kept my own list of console serials dates and ID's of every one I've sent away just in case.

Thankfully today they finally got my DLC transferred over to my replacement console, which then took me another hour and a bit to redownload the authentication on each bit of DLC :(

Atleast now I can take the box back to work and play my content offline :)

Yes I'm sure I phoned them up and asked them when my warranty runs out on the 'new' console. They gave me a date 3 years from my original console.

Feb next year min runs out despite the console having a manufacture date of 7th september 2008.

This is to stop people gaining extended warranties by swapping out consoles near the end of warranty.

Only way you can be sure is to phone them up :)

I had sent mine back three times this year, on recieving it back for the third time they sent a letter saying they have replaced it witha new console :D.
It mas manufactured 10/10/2008, so its almost brand new.
Its a hell of a lot quieter now.

Yep I had the same thing, do you still have the letter. It says 'replacement unit' nothing about being new.
