I always rename them .3x3

makes it more obvious for less technical people (especially those who hide extensions).

Tools > Options > File Transfer

Untick "Automatically reject file transfers for known unsafe file types"

in explorer

tools
folder options
view
show extentions for known filetypes

this is the first thing i hunted for when i installed xp a few years ago

alt, v, d = details view

alt, v ,b = status bar

then do tools, folder options, view, set for all (or whatever it says)
