I have the headphones above which are ok but I fancy some new ones. Onboard sound at the moment thinking of dedicated card. Budget around £150 ish for both. Recommendations?

Do you need the mic often? Could get the above and use a desktop or clip on mic and then you still get all the sound quality plus points of proper headphones

I do need to use the mic a lot, should've made that clearer from the start

I use skype for hours every day with the DT770 and the speed link clip mic. I have threaded the mic wire through the DT770's coiled cable and clipped the mic onto headphone cable towards the top. Works fine.

Check out the Senn PC360.

I have them and they are very nice.
