Looking for a set of headphones for both music and gaming.

These headphones have recently been released. Are they likely to be any good for gaming use? Im not bothered about quality of built in mic.

I have no clue about what makes a good/great gaming headset, so looking for some advice.

They're closed back on-the-go designed headphones and from the one or two comparisons I've heard they're apparently similar to the HD650, which while a fantastic headphone isn't necessarily the best for gaming purposes.

What sort of budget do you have, and do you need wireless? If wireless isn't a deal breaker what existing PC audio equipment do you have (dacs/amp/soundcard etc)?

If I was buying a wireless "gaming" headphone right now for £300-400 I'd have the Audeze Maxwells on my shortlist.

It's a Bluetooth headset. Why do people keep trying to play games Over Bluetooth

I would like the to be wireless so I can use them on my travels. These also connect usbc to usbc, I can use them wired when gaming. Budget, anywhere up to £500.

PC wise. I dont have anything extra sound card wise. Would that be needed for gaming purposes? Without any additional hardware, would these headphones be a waste of money anyway?

The can also be connected via cable, for gaming purposes.

The Audeze Maxwells will work with USB-C wired but also via Bluetooth when necessary, but when gaming you want to use the included dongle for latency purposes.

Then just buy a wired headset if you're gonna use it wired lmao

I can see that if this is your only pair you will buy, that replaces home music listening, gaming and travel. In that respect it would make sense.

But in each it will have compromises, albeit isn't too much, it's like 8/10 to 9/10 in each category.

Is it the best HiFi sounding headphones for £500? It could be, with the PEQ. I can't comment as I've not heard it but "good" in this regard is very much a subjective thing and the PEQ can make it 10/10 for you.

Is it the best gaming headset? Not with Bluetooth, and even the dongle doesn't remove the latency, but you can use the cable. As for sound stage, I don't think it has the best pin point accuracy of some other gaming headsets so in this regard it is like a 8/10, 9/10.

For travel and it's ANC. It doesn't fold down the smallest like the Sony XM6 and its ANC isn't as strong as Apple APP3. I would say this is more a 7/10

If you ONLY want it for 1 thing, there aer many other options, cheaper options even. If you aer getting just 1 pair, I Can definitely see the attraction. It certainly is justified for its price...perhaps less for travel, in that regard it has much stronger competition.

Are you trying to troll me? If not please just read my posts.. if you're too lazy to do that, I want a head set that I can use whilst on the move away from home, and also use at home for gaming.

Thank you for your detailed response. It is appreciated.

I have a set of these - a mobile set of headphones for audio - they are superb - absolutely my favourite pair of headphones for this purpose.

For gaming, as others have said, they probably wouldn't be my go to only because of the latency issues - I haven't tested that out though yet using the included BTD700 dongle but can't imagine it would substitute a wired setup. Besides, circa £100-£200 can buy some superb wired headphones for gaming so the two uses could be covered for around £500.

You'd be better off with two headsets than trying to look for a jack in the box imo
