would my Asus Xonar D2X PCI-E Sound Card be good enough for the 360's

i have a xonar d1 and i use a fiio e5 becuase i find better bass response and punch when amped. you can use unamped fine tho just quality of headset shines when amped. its not bad by any means un amped just sounds high end n clear. when amped tho there is real sense of bass and clarity of tones and range. the d2 shold be fine if ur a audiophile pick up a e5 . the volume is not a problem unamped its the tone n bass for some picky people.

if I were you I would try them first. if then you fine your lacking bass then grab a amp for 16 quid as mentined above. otherwise save your self soem cash.

Yep, I can't fault PC360's so far.

Two years ago I tried PC350's out; hated the sound quality compared to HD595's, was not too keen on non-fabric ear pads either, only the mic sound quality impressed so I sent them back under DSR.

The set up I use is the following in audio properties in xonar control bar.

audio properties 6 channel
sample rate pcm 192 Khz
analog out set to headphone
spidf out only dolby headphone selected
and set to refernce room small no echo this is preset Dh-1

see how u get on and if you feel the need to get a amp hope that helps

A quick mod to the PC350s dramatically improves sound quality.

I saw that someone modified his, not long after, the in-line volume control developed a fault. Modified = no warranty. Also saw someone else who had 2 sets where the volume controlled developed a fault.

Can't say I'd fancy modifying a £110 headset, if there is a chance it will develop a fault.

If your upto modifying the headset its a bit poor if you aren't upto fixing/changing the in-line volume control

i was bought a 350's by the wife for xmas and they are very very good

expensive yes but very good quality sound and comfort .

Tho I can quite see the point that they shouldn't be breaking in the first place and you shouldn't have to do a bodge job yourself.

Well, I'm disappointed with Sennheiser TBH. Volume control failing on a £110 headset? What the hell, what is one paying for then? HD555's, a £30-£40 price increase, yet the issue where the plastic still cracks above the ear cup, is not addressed. It won't be now obviously, with the HD558's being the replacement, but have they improved the plastics?

Sennheiser are charging a lot for products that have some issues, which should not happen, given what they cost.

HD650's are about £100 more now, but thankfully they are well built. Would be a right **** take to up the price by £100 if there were some issue like the HD555's, PC350's, just as an example.

PC360 volume control is located on right ear cup.

ye 360's have volume control on right ear cup to adress this issue and no reported problems so lets keep to the facts and this thread about the 360's not other sennheisers also the design of the earcups and headband is totally different on the 360's they dont share same stress point in the plastics that the hd 5** series do thank god so it would never be a issue for them. take one look and you can see its a redesign credit sennheiser where they have taken feedback and in there next product sorted the problems of the pc 350 that we the community addressed. but ye marsman I agree with you price hike on hd 555 was a joke.

Im still tinckering with them at the moment,without TS i must admit sounds seem very good but when im using Teamspeak aswell the positioning seems to go,maybe need to tweek TS some how,i will let you know how i get on.

Ordered a set of PC360's today & a fiio E5 to use with my x-fi Titanium HD today when they arrive tomorrow I will let you all know my thoughts/comments.

After I have had a good play with them that is.
