Thinking about a 4 seater convertible for the most of summer, looking at 3 series mainly.

So, my thinking is that car prices will start to go up the closer we get to summer (anybody have any idea how much this is normally?), I could purchase one now, run it until mid / late summer then sell it, hopefully not losing too much in the process.

Have seen a couple of e46 autos under £10k that would be more than fine (couple of 330s but im not really bothered about the engine).

Opinions?

If you're going for a 3-series... get a 6 cylinder model, they sound pretty good

they do, but there is the additional running costs and fuel costs (which with an auto ends up quite drastic in comparison to manuals).
The engine size is not an issue as it will be a M25 rush hour mule and a weekend car for the sun with the wife and boy.
Not much time will be spent hooning it around at all.

what about a 9-3?

Not a fan of the saabs tbh, golfs - thats an option, my brother had one with a vr6 engine slotted in.
Saying that, an old mk1 golf would be perfect, hmmm!

Anyone got any opinions on 306 cabrios? Dont look too bad.

I am sorry but I am confused (lack of sleep + 2 nighter hangover)....

You want a convertable for the summer... so people are suggesting a Golf?!!??!

TBar Supra
TBar MR2

Been out in a mates Megane convertible, pretty nice + comfy. No idea on reliability etc etc.

Looks like contracting is treating you ok, been meaning to invite you out for a beer but having a manic life at the moment. Think you escaped just in time fella!

E46 cab or A4 cab, prob get a high miler A4 for about 10k.

But plenty of E46 with decent engines in SE spec available.

Yeah, I have heard a few things since leaving!! Though my life has changed quite a lot recently!! thats one for a beer or 4 haha.

Contracting is going good, though this will just be a play thing that hopefully wont cost me too much money!

Hope you are good :D

Yeah there are quite a few e46s that fit the bill, i could almost accept an e36, wife wouldnt though!
A4s in standard spec are rather pants in terms of look :D
