sensor cleaning

Can I use Isoclene, its Isopropyl alcohol (99.7%) and some wipes that are used for Fibre Optic cables?!

I wouldn't. It's *quite* hard not to get streaks with IPA. It also may attack some plastics if it comes into contact with them.

is eclipse and pec pads ok to use on the viewfinder (or watever you call the viewfinder bit that is actually inside the camera) I have a few bits on there, also looks like a little scratch as well

so, the second question is, are they replaceable, obviously anything on there doesent show up on photgraphs, but still nice to have them clear when you look through them

I would strongly advice agaisnt doing that. At the end of the day, it doesnt show up on your images. I would again just try using the rocket blower upwards at the mirror and focus screen.

The focus screens are replaceable but only by an engineer and will cost to do.

If you break your mirror that will cost a lot to repair and you dont want to do anything to make your focus system break or your shots may no longer become in focus.

alrighty, how bout the wipes? they suitable?

That is an area that is less clear. The makers of the sensor swipes and pecpads say that they are not the same material. They state you should only use pecpads on lenses and not on sensors. Although, they do appear (visually) to be the same material and some well established members on here do use pecpads to clean their sensor(s).

Personally, I think that if pecpads are good enough not to scratch lenses then they should be fine on the plastic UV filter on your sensor but I'm not willing to take the risk so I still use sensor swipes.

As fstop has said, you don't need to sensor swipe that often if you regularly clean with a rocket blower so the cost of using sensor swipes isn't really an issue for me.

Maybe the reason for not using these pec pads on sensors is because of where the are assembled.
The sensor wipes are probably packed inside a clean room where as the pec pads may not be so well treated.

Although it could just be a stunt to make users buy two products.
