Sentence Spacing

Code:
Sentence yadda yadda. Double space.

Sentence yadda yadda. Single space.

Is this what it means?

Yes, I do it automatically now.

Next time you get a letter or statement from the bank, compare the spacing between a comma and a full stop. You will see it. I actually have one here, it clearly does use double spacing after a full stop.

So, people have been seeing it really every day, yet they don't notice it, and don't pay attention to it so it does look right really.

Space and time are of course interlinked due to the general unifying string theory of gravitational relatively. As such both single and double spacing are acceptable proving the time between ending one sentence and starting another is matched to the spacing as per the Planck constant of relative permeability of free space. If you get the space time continuity wrong you can of course cause a paradox resulting in a distortion of local quantum mechanical field effects. Food for thought, and yes I have a PhD in physics TYVM.

Funny you say this, I am 36 and had never heard of it, I started my current job at the archaic place I work now and learnt about double spacing when the designer sent over copy for a site (she created it in indesign with double spacing) and someone saw it on the site and asked what the hell was going on.

Was then told they always use double space as it goes back to the olden days of print legibility.

She then did it for a 190 page document only to be told to remove it lol

Find/Replace and hope it doesn’t screw up any page layouts.

If we ever get Word documents for content that we have to turn into InDesign docs, the first thing we do is a Find/Replace double space to single.

All you guys claiming to double space haven't done it in your posts

The chap I work with double spaces, and whenever he sends me anything I do find and repalce and change the double spaces to single. He's not very consistent with them either.

I’ve never come across double spacing usage between sentences before. If I did then I’d correct it to a single space. I wonder if the double spacing is a typewriter age thing. Onscreen text is arguable more legible than typed so there’s (still arguably I suppose!) no need for double spaces.

Sentence spacing is something that I almost never think about. Everyone knows that you double space after a full stop and begin your fresh sentence feeling clean and correct.
everyone but me, apparently. never taught that at school, never seen that in corres, never seen it in formatting guides for any of the stuff i do.
