Separate HTPC and NAS/Server or one machine?

Hi al4x,

What actual model of case have you got and how quiet is it?

I currently have an antec NSK-2480, which is very quiet but just not enough room.

I take it that you are using your set-up as an HTPC and/or Server?

I note that you refer to only one of your hard drives working at any one time - how do you have yours set up? Do you have power management in Windows control them?

Silverstone gd06, the fans are curently at full, and although it isnt that noisey i am going to get a pci bracket 3 fan controller..takes up a space but doesnt use the slot

Yes its a htpc, connected to my main pc via ethernet, just to share blu rays

I will (like i do in my main pc) have an ssd for os (obviously silent) and just spread media across 3 x 2tb drives..when i get them all. Main point is that if i am recording it will be to onw drive, the others wont be being read or written too. Many drives park the head when not in use.

2 bays in that case are hot swap. Pic

My board supports usb3, unfortunatly not by header, this case has usb3 front ports

I also have a h61 mobo with 6 sata ports, all will be in use when im done.
