I'm just about to return to uni n october and realised I don't know what to do about sound for my 360.

I'll only be taking my PC/laptop monitor which doesn't have speakers and there isn't a TV in my room.

Is there such a cable that can split the HDMI cable from my elite into HDMI for the visual and say a 3.5 so I can plug my PC speakers in?

This may sound like a long shot, I've got my xbox straight to the telly via a hdmi cable, then I've stripped the casing off an official microsoft vga cable. This has the vga connector and the red and white audio cables.

The red and white go to the amp, so I get the sound through the stereo, but between the amp and vga I've got a very handy little splitter that came with my new Turtle Beach headset.

Its Red/White go through cable with a 3.5 headphone jack split off it, this would let you plug the PC speakers :)

Just having a search through google for you now :)

Edit:

This this is what I use (Sorry about the time image)

Can be had for less than £1 used. Then using the cable JoeRiches posted above (or similar depending on what connector your speakers use)

Easy way:

Get an official Xbox 360 composite cable, chop the yellow connector off, pop the plastic casing off the other end so it will fit in the console at the same time as the HDMI cable. It automatically sends the sound out through the composite and picture through HDMI, I did it myself.

That looks perfect - I'll get googling now :)

Failing that I'll look into the DIY option mentioned above, thanks all!
