Strange error this. I just installed a Q6600 on my Intel D975BX2. Works ok, updated bios etc. but now I'm getting a message in Windows (Vista x64) that my Serial ATA controller is not working. In device manager it tells me I have no driver installed, but when I try to find a driver, it can't find one on the original disk I got with the mbd, and it doesn't find one when it does an online search either. My drives seem to be working ok, but I don't understand why i'm getting this error! :confused:

Yes, there's a yellow '!' next to 'Serial ATA controller', and when i go into that it says;

"This device is not configured correctly (Code 1).
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver"

But doing that actions a search which finds nothing!

Are you set to run AHCI mode? If so, I believe you need to go into the Registry and change a DWORD value so that Windows uses the correct driver. Not sure if this is the case for you, the BIOS would tell you what mode you were running in.

Just to update this, I have checked my BIOS and it says SATA is configured in IDE mode. AHCI mode is available as an option, but it doesn't appear to be running in that mode.

I just don't get this! Only thing I changed was my CPU!!

:confused::mad:
