Hi there, would be greatful if anyone could help me...

I have an old AMD Asus A7V333 motherboard & have recently bought a SATA Serial ATA PCI Controller Card Via VT6421

Have installed the card into one of my spare PCI slots, but it didn't seem to find any new hardware when I booted up into Windows XP

What would this type of hardware come under in Device Manager? so I can see if it's being recognised or not

I remember on mine it would show up on the post screen, just after the usual bios stuff. It gave the option of pressing F3 to configure the drives.

In windows new hardware was detected and asked for drivers, in device manager it would be under scsi and raid controllers.

Edit: Not that particular card btw...

Mmmm I didn't get those options and I have tried different PCI slots

The only thing I have under scsi and raid controllers is...

VAX347S SCSI Controller

but that doesn't look like it

You may not get the BIOS bootup message if there are no drives attached to the card. Do you have a drive installed?

If the drivers for the card aren't loaded then it'll appear as an Unknown Device under Other Devices in Device Manager.

I haven't got any drives connected to it yet, want to make sure the card is recognised and working first

I don't have any Unknown Devices!

No, just came in a box with a mini driver cd

Have tried installing drivers from the cd but it cannot find the hardware for the drivers
