Serial ATA with ATA?

I opened my pc earlier for a clean out and to my amazement found a 500gb serial ATA drive sitting there not plugged in.

I tried plugging in the SATA connector and power and it spins up but doesnt show in bios. I tried connecting the jumper to set sata (as on picture on drive) but it still doesnt show.

Is it possible to run both sata and ata together?

I have a DFI ultra-d board
