Ok so i tryed opening something and acidently clicked word pad and now its changed every single .exe file on my pc to open in word pad and i cant find out how to change it back. Means ic ant opoen any program so i cant close mozila or it may never come back up!

Can you get back into the "open with" dialogue box?

If so, try setting something to open with explorer.exe.

Open with doesn't have open as an aplication, which is rediculas and i cant do open with on .exe files it seems. Well some i coudl butnot ones for like mozila fire fox. It just says open as .exe

Ill have look around in folder options. I think i screwed this one big :(

cant open "command.com" in run because its a program. This is stupid. How can they have fixs to a problem where you cant open .exe files by telling you to open one!

i managed to fix it. Got a friend to make a hotfix for it and send it to me thro msn . Which was dificult as msn refuses to let my download something withouti a virus checker and seens as it cant open my virus scan i had to some how trick it into thinking some random file was and it came up with an error message and downloaded anyway lol.

Thank the lord its fixed :)

God damn stupid that all the fixs for this involve me opening programs which i cant do! smart one microsoft

I thought that also, it's very convienent to blame MS when the real issue is the PEBKAC.

Burnsy

Surely you mean "smart one numbnuts who made all his applications open in wordpad"?

MMM well i download something and i click the wrong file which i thought to be a word pad document, instead i clicked on a file not finnished downloading so it didn't open, i didn't know why because i didn';t relise id clicked on the wrong one (ment to click on the file below it). Naturaly i right clicked and clicked open with word pad to make sure it was opening in the wrong program. O... ive just changed every single .exe file on my pc to open in word pad.

Im told its not even possible to do this in XP. WHy on earth would they make it so i can on Vista? Why on earth would i ever not want to open a .exe as an application? Im sorry but i fail to see how it makes any sense as to why they would make it possible.

Yeah obiously because im SOOO stupid that its all my fault huh? MM pritty easy acident to make. Pritty stupid to make it so that it totaly fubar's your pc with every fix requiring you to open a program, which is .EXE

Yep, you were pretty stupid. This is why people who aren't system administrators shouldn't have admin rights. Lesson learnt huh?

And of course its possible in XP.
