i built my own computer a while back, and got a BSOD every now and then, but recently its becoming more frequent.. heres some of them.. 0x00000051 ....7E, 19, 8E, A etc...and my browsers keep closing all the time, with the usual error message, and the same for applications and games..... do u think its a memory problem? i tried memtest but it didnt find anything, got my anti-virus/malware running all the time too. should i just re-install windows?

GIGABYTE EP31-DS3L

Are you running windows vista? If you are then yeah i would say its vista based. i installed vista ultimate edition, about 5 times and i kepy getting bsod, then i tried windows 7 runs fine, xp runs fine. So i would say its vista

lets break it down via some research:

0x0000008e is faulty or incompatable ram
0x00000019 ntfs file system error
0x00000051 registry error
0x00000051 Driver issues, sometimes graphics/ device drivers

Time to eliminate
Try 1 stick of ram at a time, unplug all non essentials from the mobo and or powersupply and see if it keeps happening even though youve ran memtest.

If your getting it during applicaitons and games il'd edge a guess at memory being the cause

ahem... ill say nothing...;) Try 1 stick at a time and detach all non essentials and see if you still getthe problems.

If its the mem, bin the PNY, if its not the mem..... still bin the PNY
