Had a quick blast the other day and I seem to be getting dreadful performance even though I'm hitting 80FPS in fight scenes, it feels more like 20FPS.

Has anyone else noticed this?
 
Yes. I have a 285gtx with the lastest drivers and it can drop to single digits when entering new rooms for a round 10-15 seconds for no reason at all.

Some rooms do seem better optimised or better made than others atm, e.g. there's one specific room which makes my pc crash every time I go in it and I also have severe problems when jumping into water for the first time too.

From reading the various forums, I think the devs acknowledge the problems that some people are having and are working on the various solutions.

Maybe, if you haven't already, have a look over at Steam and the Croteam SS sites for any further info relating to your specific problems.
 
I had to go back to 191.07 drivers for Serious Sam HD (and seeing same symptoms in other 2D stuff too like Heaven benchmark - tho most stuff runs fine) 195.xx especially ran badly with it for me.

Even then I find rooms with water drop my fps from a solid 200 to 45-50 for some reason.
